Sustainable management of soils under oil palm plantings

In Medan, 7-8 November 2013, Hotel Aryaduta

The workshop will bring together researchers from all over the world, with the aim to discuss about best practices to assess and maintain soil fertility in oil palm plantations.
The workshop will last two days: the first day will mostly consist on short presentations on scientific issues and ongoing projects; the second day will leave more time for open discussions on potential research tracks and collaborative works.

The expected outputs of the workshop are as following:

1)  published proceedings of the 4-page abstracts on the scientific presentations
2)  outline for a review paper on "Sustainable management of soil fertility in oil plam plantations" to be submitted to a scientific journal.
3)  roadmap for future collaborative projects and working groups to work on editing an handbook on best practices to assess and maintain soil fertility in oil palm plantations.


The workshop is organized as a collaboration project between Smart Research Institute, James Cook University of Cairns, Cirad France and CSIRO.
