El Nino/La Nina future frequency to be presented at ICOPE 2016
Posted March 01' 2016 | 04.03

ICOPE 2016 will highlight El Nino and La Nina phenomena. These weather phenomena can lead to abnormal and extreme climate resulting in droughts or floods in different parts of the world. Both events are having significant negative impact on oil palm yields. Dr Agus Santoso (8 articles in the world most renowned scientific journals "Nature" and "Nature Climate Change") from Australia, Senior Research associate at the University of New South Wales (Australia), Associate Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science and Adjunct Science Leader at the CSIRO, will deliberate on these climatic phenomena: its origin and dynamics. Most importantly, future projections of the frequency of El Nino-La Nina events related to climate change will be presented based on the most recent findings from him and his team.
